Painting with Wool 2D Needle Felting with Bonnie Ohrt of Homespun Family 1:00 - 3:00 pm
This class is for anyone who would like to create out of wool!
Create your own WOOL PICTURE made completely out of our own Iowa raised Jacob Sheep, Navajo Churro wool, alpaca and llama fiber. We will begin with basics of needle felting, learning the different qualities between the 3 different species of fiber/wools available in this class: Llama, Alpaca and sheeps wool (our Jacob Sheep and Navajo Churro Wool).
We will then move on towards creating your own Needle felted painting! No drawing experience necessary. Everyone has their own creativity and style.
Open to all ages – but would request only youth over 8 years (only with parental attendance/guidance) - As we will be working with sharp felting needles. Cost of Class: $48
(This cost includes a Needle Felting “Starter Kit” – which has a retail value of $30.00!!)
This fee includes cost for all supplies that you will need to complete the project for the day with plenty of supplies left over that you get to take home and continue with your adventures and needle felting artwork!
Included in the supplies provided:
Set of "Homespun family's" basic starter kit. Containing:

Card Weaving Class Full
Card Weaving 1:00 - 4:00 with Pam Poppe
Learn to weave a band on an inkle loom with cards. From shoelaces to purse straps, camera straps, guitar straps, and tote bags, card weaving is a portable, fun way to weave bands of any width! Pam will show you how to set up the cards and warp the loom, then get you started weaving a shoelace project. You will need an inkle loom, scissors, pen and paper. We will provide yarn and the cards.

Beginning Tapestry Weaving with Cherie Maxson 9:00 - 12:00 April 29 and May 6
Learn to weave Tapestry in this 2 session class. Participants wll learn to warp their loom and get started with basic tapestry techniques.
You will need a small tapestry loom, scissors, pen and paper, a tapestry fork or kitchen fork or hair pick for beating, and 3 or more colors of worsted weight yarn for this class. The warp will be provided. Suggested looms: Schacht Easel Weaver, Handywoman Designs small loom (handywomanshop.com), Mirrix Saffron loom (mirrixlooms.com) , or small frame looms on Etsy. The Guild has 2 Easel Weavers for sale, first come first served. We also have 2 you can rent for the class at $10. Put a note on the registration form if you want to buy or rent a loom from us.

Beginning Rigid Heddle Weaving April 29 and May 6 9:00 - 12:00
Learn to weave on a Rigid Heddle Loom. In this beginner class, you will learn to warp your loom and weave a plain scarf and a houndstooth scarf. You will need a rigid heddle loom, already put together and in good working order. You will also need 2 skeins of worsted weight yarn in contrasting colors, scissors, a tape measure, pen and paper, your threading hook, stick shuttle and warping peg with clamp. The guild has looms for rent at a cost of $25 plus a $200 deposit that will be returned when the loom and equipment are returned.

Birds of a Feather Needle Felting 3D Bird April 29, 9:00 - 12:00
Learn how to needle felt a bird! We’ll go over the basics of felting and how to make the magic happen. Materials to make one felted bird will be supplied, tools to be loaned. This is a beginner needle felting class, students should be aware that felting needles are sharp, you may want to wear gloves or a leather quilting thimble to protect fingers. Students are welcome to bring ideas and roving from your stash to use in the project. Taught by Karolyn Knoll of Textiles by Karolyn

Macrame Half Circle + Yarn with Lynsi Pasutti of Purple Star Studio 1:00 - 3:30
Learn how to knot the half circle macrame design with the fun twist of adding handspun yarn to create a unique look! If you're like Lynsi, loving the beauty of handspun yarn, but rarely actually using it... or have leftovers from other projects, this class is for you! A variety of colors of macrame cord will be provided, but students are asked to bring their own yarn for the project (the funkier, the better!). Total length needed will vary based on yarn weight.
