Guild Challenge 2023
The Guild Challenge is a project we do every year. The Board decides on a theme for the challenge, and presents it to the members at the September meeting. The Challenge is open to all members, and may be done in any fiber art the member chooses. This is not a juried exhibit, but a chance to be creative for everyone, and hopefully gain some new skill and confidence while working with the challenge project.
Guild Challenge 2022
Last year, our Guild Challenge was to use a picture to design a project. The picture chosen was Picasso's "Woman Sitting in a Chair" and members used the colors, textures, or feel of the photo to design something.
This year, our challenge consists of 3 color swatches in a sealed envelope. Members can contact Shari@desmoinesweaversguild.org to get an envelope.
The rules are simple:
Using at least 2 of the 3 colors in the envelope, make a project to present to the Guild at our meeting March 11, 2023.
You may add colors to the ones in the envelope.
You may only subtract one of the colors in the envelope.
You can make 1 trade for a different envelope, but only one, and it will be a blind trade.
Weave, spin, felt, or knit a project, and present it at the March meeting.
We will present the projects from this Challenge at the Midwest Weavers Conference as our Guild Exhibit in June.
We hope this inspires you to think of new ways to use color, and branch out of your comfort zone! We can't wait to see what everyone makes this year!
